OK, we're gonna get started! * Geirr gives everyone a refill of their orange smoothie. Before we all start talking, you guys get to listen to me for just a fwe minutes. k * Rasconza listens and shuts up for the remainder of the meeting * Eldahir does some pushups whilst waiting. There are several things we're goign to be discussing this evening. One is where we're going, and how we're getting there. This doesn't mean 5 years from now, but in the coming months. Another is what we're doing while we're waiting. And there are a couple of other topics as well, but I'll get to them as they arise. First, where we're going. Based on the feedback in the forums and such, I want to see us adopt both Guild Wars and WoW. The reason is that games like Guild Wars don't appeal to all of our membres anymore, it being basically a Diablo clone, yet we also have members that still enjoy something Diablo-ish but can't afford the montly fee. Also, based on what I've seen in the forums and heard from other members, there is just not much interest in Diablo anymore. I know there are a couple of duchies still managing to have a gaming night, but it's not like it once was. Now, I'd pretty much decided to just make that decision about the games, since it seems obvious from what's been said among our member base. However, I'll be perfectly happy to hold a vote about it if you guys wnat to do that. I'm not trying to go over your head...it merely seemed like the obvious thing to do. (Raz, you're gonna rep DS.) Now...the problem is that neither game is out right now, and we don't know how long 'soon' really is. *g* Therefore, we both need to prepare and we need to decide what to do to keep up interest in the meantime. Here are my thoughts on that matter. *** VallaDe (Goldyn_Wol@4022b75a.client.de424f33.com.hmsk) has joined channel #DE_HC First, we need to get the scouts filled out with people who have interest in our new games. I'd hoped His Highness could give his input on this matter, but he's not here for whatever reason this evening. Also, I believe His Grace Shadocat is planning to get questmasters that are interested in the two separate games, instead of expecting everyone to have both. * Shadocat nods* I don't see how we'd have quests ready before the games come out, as there's not really way to know the true game mechanics until you get into it. however, I want to know this is happening, and be on the front of the curve instead of the back. And that brings us to what to do in the meantime. And I'll finally let you guys start talking. *g* Since this is a fairly small meeting, and I'm not planning on votes, we'll stick with protocol, but anyone is welcome to indicate they'd like a chance to speak. ** For those who might not be familiar with protocol, just indicate with ** that you want to speak. But...I'm not done yet. *winks at Eldahir* oki There seemed to be some interest in getting some organized WC3 going. However, although there is interest, it doesn't look like that's happened. His Grace Shadocat and I discussed that having the questmasters involved might help with that. I'm really open to suggestions as to whether we should treat it like a primary game for the time being, or any other suggestions as to what we might do And just a warning...we are going to stick with the 2-hour limit this evening, because I have a headache. :P Your Grace Eldahir? * Geirr slips Her Majesty some Tylenols. * Caithris nods at him thankfully, then chases them with some Crown Royal. Thx your majesty, many of you know that I don't always agree with everyone. Must be my swedishness ;) anyway, I must say; incredible! hats of to our empress. I'm so happy we are taking a few trembling steps into the right direction. * Geirr smiles and laughs to himself silently. ** WoW and GW are two games that will bring immense life into our guild and we should really embrace both of these games. ** I for one will be buying both and as I mentioned to Caithris earlier, my gf gonna kill me ... I wont have time for real life lol ** ill talk more later, now lets hear shadocat. -- ** Your Grace Shadocat? I agree, your majesty, that it should be fine to go ahead and adopt the games. My toes certainly will not be stepped upon if you do not ask a vote. :) *done* THank you, Your Graces. Your Grace Geirr? OMG, me? OK, where to begin... I endorse your motions so far whoel heartily. ** You should decide where to begin before you indicate you want to speak. ;) I would also like to inform you all that Guild Wars has some find of tournament this weekend for people who have purchased the preview of the game? :p *done* * Caithris nods. I know. We do need to figure out who all has the preview. That might be a good litmus test to get an idea of where to start with quests and such. Sir Rasconza? * Geirr raises his hand. Cammy first I think. * Geirr nods **(but ill need a few moments until I can respond) Aye, she was. My apologies, Your Grace. Go ahead! I just wanted to say "YEAH!" I agree with Your Majesty. =) No vote necessary IMHO * Geirr puts some more ice cream in her smoothie. done * Caithris grins. * Cambria grins at Geirr. Sir Rasconza? I just wanted to point out that Warcraft 3 supports in-game guilds, but at least ten members are required. This may promote interest in the game if we can get the Draconian Empire represented, but I do not quite know the mechanics of expansion versus non-expansion, and if non-expansion is in-game guild compatible. And I agree with the others. Finished. Thanks for the information. Lady Hye, can you look into some of that for us on their website? I seem to remember that you expressed interest. * Geirr pinches Hye awake. * Caithris decides that she might not be looking at her screen. Your Grace Eldahir? trying to keep within the 2 hour window: quest - we shoudl wait for the games to be released, played a lot and then maybe create quests. a game like wow has thousands of in game quests already... games - wc3 i s a game i dont think we shoudl promote as primary game, it would only be confusing using it as primary ofr a few months then discard it. though tournaments and such things can always be created by the qms..or the two of them ;) That's really more of what I had in mind. Just something to keep folks interested while we're waiting. voting - the majority agrees with the games and the proposal by her majesty but I strongly think we shoudl have a vote anyways. looks better and it shows that we are unamoinous (lol cant spell that, meaning we all agree). something that woudl make the time in DE easier for those that go around like ghosts a simple thing as announcing we are adopting two new games will raise EVERYONES spirits. done for now. -- OK. A couple of responses before we keep going. ** First... let's just get the vote out of the way. All in favor of adopting Guild Wars and WoW as primary games, please answer aye. Aye aye. aye As the chosen representative of the Coastlands I hereby vote AYE Abstain, as I do not know my duchy's response. * Caithris pokes Geirr and Cambria. aye (sorry) aye Mostion passes, and I trust we can all count. ;) * Rasconza counts on his fingers. 6-0? 6-0-1 aye - nay - abstain * Rasconza nods. Next...I'd like to discuss this more at length later, but this is just something to think about. Why don't we give awards to those people who have finished significant quests in-game? That way, it's easier than developing our own, but I think we'd still have a need for the QMs for tourneys and other organized guild activies. ** ** That would be something we could take to the boards, and something for the QMs to consider as well. And one more thing to throw out there, and then I'll call on people again. This is a link that Sir Rasconza provided me with, showing the clan setup of WC3. Even if we don't adopt it as a primary game, I see now reason why we couldn't form an in-game clan if we've got enough interest. (Link: http://www.battle.net/war3/ladder/war3-ladder-info-clans.aspx)http://www.battle.net/war3/ladder/war3-ladder-info-clans.aspx * Geirr smiles and nods. Apparently the hardest part will be getting 10 people on at once. Now...back to our brainstorming session. Master Drax? One second ** Ok (you'll be happy to know that I wrote the order in a text file this time...maybe I'll do better) We have accepted both games. When do we start recruiting? As soon as possible is my hope and even before their release. ** * Caithris nods. Absolutely. As soon as we can get folks ready to recruit, we are going to start recruiting. I was going to just use the existing Azeroth forum for WoW, but I guess we'll need a GW forum too. ** Ugh....even more forums. Then I would then guess that we shall accept squires on the basis of their intrest in these games. * Caithris nods. Though I think in order to keep them, we'll have to show that we really ARE gearing up to fully support both games. From my experience in online games, people look for friends to hang out with and hunt with, and also reliable people for crafting (depending on the game) in their guilds. Since the game has not been released, what can we use as a basis for testing and accepting them. What I mean to say is we have our gaming laws. Most are universal, but without knowing too much how should we go about screening legitimate players? done * Geirr thinks how about just not cheating.... Well right. *** Aramil (ShadowStnd@e6ba1b4.bna.828b38f5.net.hmsk) has joined channel #DE_HC I dunno, just throwing it out there. We can discuss this in more detail in the HC forum, but here were my basic ideas. I want to drill them on our universal laws and on our etiquette. I want to cover not only gaming, but also how we treat one another. ** *** Aramil is now known as Talyn_Aramil I'd like to see more questions asked that will cover personality, and not just the strict rules of cheating or not. *** Mode change "+o Talyn_Aramil" for channel #DE_HC by Caithris I had something more concrete in mind but my attention is divided at the moment. * Caithris nods. If you don't mind, post it when you get the chance. * Geirr prepares an orange smoothie for His Highness. Then we can pour over it more, and won't be rushed. * Talyn_Aramil waves and thanks his Grace I really want to get us thinking about things right now. WE don't have to decide everything tonight. I just want to be able to show some forward momentum. That's the main reason we are here. Sir Valla, you've had three requests out there. Guess what?! I'm finally gonna let you talk. * VallaDe chuckles Off of subject just a bit.but on the same note. I posted another game similier to war3 on the forums. I believe if we have enough interest it could become secondary. just wanted to put that one out there done * Caithris nods. Thanks for pointing that out. :) Sir Rasconza? I believe that is a good way to start, for everyone will start at the same time theoretically. Eventually we will have to create other quests though, given that many people achieve the same in-game quests, and the purpose of awards is to distinguish hard-workers and promote interest. But I assume that no one will beat Guildwards or WoW in one day, so I am sure that the in-game quests will work for at least a month, 'til we, or th Back up to the quests. As an added note, with Draconia represented with Warcraft 3, we may be able to attract more members, so that the Empire may be more stable with a steady flow of newcomers 'til the new games arrive. Finished. 'til we, or the questmasters, can organize and form additional quests for members to strive for. But given that the Empire needs more activity, these quests will help definitely. Sorry, didn't know it cut off. As far as quests in GW and WoW go, I think that might handle itself for a time. FRom what I've heard, GW will be releasing regular expansions, theoretically with new content in each. If WoW is like most mmorpg's, the devs will be adding new content from time to time. Now worries...just go ahead and finish it :) Finished now. oh, you did while was typing. * Caithris nods in agreement. *** Signoff: Geirr (Quit: (Link: http://cookie.sorcery.net/~ircd_/javachat/)http://cookie.sorcery.net/~ircd_/javachat/) Your Grace Shadocat? Regarding the WC3 discussion, I think Highness Talyn once stated that the clan creation required you to have the expansion. -- Regarding the new games and legitimate players, well, We dont really know how they will cheat yet. Some things you just have to watch for after you know what to look for. -- Regarding making new quests, One good way to make quests is to create mini-tournaments. This gets people to test the practicality of ** This gets people to test the practicality of quest ideas, and allows you to make a viable-yet challenging requirement for the potential guild quest. *Done.* Also, although there is definitely cheating in mmorpg's, I feel like they are less prone overall because of the ongoing patches and updates. * Caithris checks her list. Your Grace Cambria? Well, I think there is one thing very very basic to our deciding to support WoW And that is choosing a server. * Caithris smacks her forehead, then nods. We all need to get on the same server. This is so basic. Has anyone seen a proposed server list? Or if there will be an 'official' pvp server or rp server? I don't know if anything on that has been announced. Is it a simple choice, or do we need to hvae an invitation of sorts? On UO it was as simple as choosing. On FF you must get a "pass" On UO you could also have characters on multiple servers So it was pretty easy FF it's not On SWG you can only have one character per server if I understand correctly? On SWG you can randomly choose a server, and have one char on each server as well. We probably need to find that information out, if it's been announced. So the server issue is so basic, so important. done ** Yes, unless you become a Jedi padawan, in which case you get a second char on that server. Just a note, I belive the latest patch allows WC3 and WC3X to clan together, so that will help with the WC3 area. Also WE could make some simple quests (Level ones) but i'm not the best as an artist so some help would be needed for medals. Hmmm....that's also something we need to find out and attack asap. Problem is, aside from knowing that we'll all want ot be on one server, it's not something we can 'choose' this early. *** Reuban (lewis_71@cde3c075.ipt.6ca6a889.com.hmsk) has joined channel #DE_HC * Rasconza nods in greeting to Reuban. ** * Caithris waves at Reuban. Thanks for the information, Your Highness. * Reuban bows to all Your Grace Eldahir, I think you told me you'd written up a monologue while waiting.... Short and concrete: Seeing as we are adopting something totaly new for DE, MMORPGs, we need to learn to think in other ways. For those that don't how it works it will be a bit hard. For instance, no PK? ..hmm how about the servers that support PvP?...servers that are built for thousands of people going to war against thousand others, built on killing others?....just a note. About cheating within MMORPGs, much harder then in D2 ... if they catch you, which they easily can, they ban your butt or flag you. Also, DE needs to choose servers for the games pretty quick at release, because once u enter one world (serer) and build a character....then you never wanna change servers. mmorpgs takes a lot of time to build chars .... d2? a few hours...wow? a few months...which makes it extremely important to choose servers. so when recruiting we gotta be clear about the information we give the squires. and we shoudl really consider playing on pvp servers.... in a way they are irretating because u got get killed easily, but it gives the game a whole lot more depth where u can truly play out the story. meaning war between the alliance and the horde. however when i played wow in the stresstest I noticed that there are quite much pvp on the regular servers aswell (there are ways to fight others) i will be getting a fresh beta account in a few days so I will be able to see what improvements that have been made and if the pvp still exists on the regular servers. yet another note: a guild funtion is built into the game which supports logos and special clothes for your guild members etc etc etc....i got much info on the game just ask and i shall tell u ;) also consider this, blizzard has announced that they will have region wise servers, meaning european habitants wont be able to play on us servers. because you need a us billing adress to be able to play on us servers. so when we get closer to the release date the european players will be coming to you guys asking if u can in soe way pay the bills and get money from us, otherwise we wont be able to play lol... (it started short and concrete lol) done- so quiet...everyone reading.... OK, let's do this, then. When you can get into beta, I want information about the dueling system if you can get it. That way, we can discuss it in the HC chambers and decide how to apply our laws. FRom my experiences in SWG, I know that there is pvp, and then there is griefing. ** pvp is fine, within the constructs of the game, but griefing is not. That's where I want to try to draw the line Your Highness? You're up next. Ok, Ill let everyone know when I got the account. I already sprouted my thing on WC3, I was just letting His grace Shadocat know about the Wc3/WC3X patch that allowed them to guild together, the min to start a "Clan" is 10 * Shadocat is grateful. if we could get that, we could host our own tournements and have our own guild rankings although with the birth of the KR/DE allaince, they have a fw people that play WC3, so it could help us boost our numbers and supposr freindly games support* -done- Draconian Reinessance ;) I wouldn't have a problem is we wanted to combine our forces to make a clan online. Your Highness, would you mind presenting the idea to their people and ours? ** sure, I shall. i've been frequenting their forums quite a bit recently, I would suggest that others do too, they enoy having us there wonderful! * Rasconza waves goodbye, and informs everyone that Reuban will be the new rep for Dragonspire. * Caithris pats Raz on the head, then calls on ...Valla! (He did motin back before Cammy did) Okay I'm a vet of many MMORPHS. Would the Empire support a Guild war style of game where PVP is a part of the game. I will cite for instance Shadowbane. the game is based on Guild warring. gaining groupds and destroying your enemy guilds "life tree" *** Signoff: Rasconza (Quit: Rasconza) ((I let my dogs out, and one of them decided to go roaming. With apologies, I'm turning this over to Talyn while I go get her.)) *** You have been marked as being away. Someone can answer this. * Shadocat is certainly open to check it out! Guild Wars has PVP aspects after all. exactly. * Reuban thinks this an interesting consept. Guild wars is based upon warring other guilds. ** Will that go against the beliefs of the people of the Empire..if so we may have to go against it.or forbid the empire from participation in the wars. But if we choose that. we have to realise the multiplayer guild aspect is gone from that game. I think as long as the PvP dosen't become greifing, I think that as a honorable guild, the context of warring guilds would be fine ** Sounds like something be be brought up on the forums for everyone's input. But what contexts greiving a more powerful clan attacking a weaker one.that is war. that is soemthing I tink we need to be brought to the forums to be talked about Am done just wanted to bring a couple of ideas to light thank you =) Reuban? Would D2 be incorporated into these,..guild wars as well? Guild wars is a game currently in development, I'm not too familiar with it (Mostly becasue my computer dosen't like it when I tried the beta) Is it an open beta talyn? Some members do not have a system capable of handling a game as advanced as WC3. Yes, this neesd to be brought up in the forums. one of my freinds has the beta and I end up playing it more than him, as far as I know it's a closed beta he was lucky enough to get into I tried it when they had the E3 opreview too, and thats when I found out my computer dosen't like it There is the open testing this weekend as well. That is a problem that will come up, peoples computers wont be able to keep up. But, sadly enough that is a problem that everyone needs to adress themselves. New Games is the future of DE, d2 and d1 is the past and would only lead to the destruction of DE if we would stay with them forever. great to hear, the game shows promise for sure That is also the risks of being a comp gamer. ** was that all Sir Reuban? on the issue of the compatablility, I know how it is, I can't run NWN right now so I play WC3 mostly I think Cambria was before Reuban, and we really need to move on now. Yes, Im thank you for the time. your grace Cambria? Ok just so you know, I refuse to play on a 100% pvp server and I am guessing others might too Aye I hate pvp, I despise it, and if that's the way the guild is going, then I am going to opt out of WoW I want to avoid a 'pure' pvp server. I don't think the entire guild is interested in it. On the other hand, I am a mega crafter there are no "pure" in wow. there are always the thousands of quests ;) Folks, protocol please. Well if there are pvp servers I will avoid them like the plague pure and simple. If I don't call on you, it's not your turn. So if that's where we go, I am out. O-U-T with a capital everything. ** oops done sorry OK. We are going to take this to the forums, because I have other things to talk about. However, I am going to touch on this one point. I DO want to allow our players to play against other players if they want. I do NOT want to see us on a pure pvp server, because usually the only folks on those servers are the l337 kiddies. They're not who I want as our member base, and I doubt anyone else does either. So...we will adapt our rules in a way such that we can allow dueling, or honorable warring in an rp context. That would include events such as Imperial vs Rebel battles in SWG. Those are the ONLY ways I will ever want to see us PVP. Now, moving on with my agenda. I'm very concerned right now with how decentralized the Empire is becoming. I think it's great that the duchies are closeknit and have activity and identity. I'm worried that they are becoming TOO close-knit, and I want to find ways to bring acitivity and comraderie to the Empire as a whole. So I'm asking you, as Dukes and Duchesses, the leaders of this Empire, to try to encourage that. I'm not sure HOW to encourage it at the moment, but I'd like to have ideas. If you wish to speak on that topic, please indicate by the usual means. I'm dropping the earlier order because the last topic is closed for this meeting. ** Your Grace? First I would like to ask in what way u think we have done this? and do u also mean that some duchies work closer with eachother then others? secondly, it is understandable that the duchies have tried to keep their activity going as good as they have during these trying times. because we need games....rp is a new storng part of DE but how much we encourage it u can neglect the facts, DE as it is now dont have a future without games. Tournaments, new game hype as we are going to create with WoW and GW is the way to go. done. -- First, I'm not accusing anyone of anything here. I'm just noting that I see more ducal acitivity than Imperial activity. I don't even consider it a major problem rihgt now. But I'd like to see us aware of it and thinking of ways ot make our entire Empire a cohesive group. There are always little things going on in the duchies. I want to see some of those little things going on for the entire Empire. That's all. I can't always think of them all myself. ** So I'd like for you all to help me think of ways to encourage it as a whole. I know what gaming is to the Empire, but that's not all of the equation. I feel almost like we're losing that little special something that makes us DE as a whole, and I don't want that to happen. WE have to remember that we are not just Dragonspire, The Northern REaches, Nova Q, Coastlands, Lakelands, and Enchantica. We are the Draconian Empire. While you are thinking of ways to keep your duchies alive and active, please share anything we can implement guild-wide. ((Afraid I have to go, have to be somewhere. Im just going to idle her so I can ge the log.)) One suggestion would to award some Imperial medals, we have them but we don't give them out. I'm notsaying give them out all the time, but I think we should look at the requirements and give it some thought. ((ok)) *** DraxKain is now known as DraxKain|Away Aye, I have been giving it thought. Sir Reuban Would you consider the Ball, one idea as an idea for the guild as a whole,...or am I missing the point by a mile? Done Aye, I would. But since I'd just been fussing over in DS, I didn't want to swipe the idea. But we can certainly move it. ? OK...well, that's all I have for right now. I would like to see the following topics up for discussion on the forums: quests in GW/WoW; WC3 clan, possibly with KR; pvp/griefing for GW/WoW; testing for new squires from GW/Wow. *** Rasconza (razdelacro@29619c12.dsl.sfldmi.c4b6c291.net.hmsk) has joined channel #DE_HC Now...that leaves up with about 15 min. We can leave early, or we can talk for the next 15 min. Either is fine with me. I woudl like to ask the others something. (i assume its open floor now?) ok (kinda, as long as it doesn't get wild. If it does, we'll shut back down.) Who here knows right now that they will buy either WoW or GW? Reason why I ask is because I've seen somethings which I think is alarming. (Y'all can answer.) its either WoW or Matrix online for me....not quite sure yet Not buying WoW ... monthly pay doesn't sit well with me. Guildwars much more possible, but not committing unfortunately. People of higher posts who doesn't like any or both (whatever games or not) and seeing as they are of higher position they have lots of influence wither we want or not which could result in the "negative" though being transmitted down into your whole duchy. * Rasconza reads over that again. we have all done it at some point, yes even me, I just want us to be a bit more on the lookout From what I've seen, everyone on the HC is interested in one game or the other. Are you saying that the HC should all buy the game? no but ill explain again lol duke with negative oppinions of something/anything/everything affects his or hers members. even if we dont think about it. i'm going to get WoW we have a lot of influence and should be careful with it. maybe GW Caithris? Aye, all of those in a position of power would do well to choose their words carefully. But, we are NOT going to require anyone to have BOTH games. The HC can support it whether or not they buy it ... is that what you are saying? To spread positive remarks basically? Because that makes sense, I just don't think it should be a "requirement" to buy the game in an aspect. (fyi, im not talking about you all, i know i must think about my words aswell) ;) It is and always will be up to the individual. ras: exactly...spread positive remarcs Don't worry 'bout it Eldahir, it is somewhere around 3:00 where you are. I think we all understand how you feel. Okay, understood now. Caithris how about u? What about me? games? duh? lol I haven't made a final decision. I will definitely not get both, And I might not get either. May I bring up another quick note....? Sure. You have 10 min. *g* Gaming is a big part of DE we can recruit people whom only game. however, spite how I feel ;), RP is just as big, meaning we can recruit someone whom purely RP ** Aye. We've discussed that before. We have a rank called Knight Captain which is purely gaming. not always but primarily isnt it possible to make it gaming/rp or make a nother rank side by side KC that would function like the rnak is now but for RP instead? For rpers.. it doesnt make sense only being gaming when our world is both rp and gaming. We've discussed that one in the past. It wasn't felt that we needed another rank, but merely to cater to the needs of the people of the duchy. In DS and NQ we used to have KC's that ran rp nights. You lost a really good one right before I joined. due to the tests and such.perhaps for rpers you should rethink the tets tests Hmm but are u saying caithris that I person who solely RPs coudl be chosen to be KC? I = a. sorry typo ** I'm not going to drop the testing for squires. However, traditionally rp squires have had a test that is geared more toward the rp environment, and gaming squires have one that asks specifics about games. But if we revamp the test, then it'll be more about our fundamental laws. And I am NEVER accepting a squire that doesn't want to learn those. And yes, Your Grace Eldahir. We've had them in the past. Your Grace Shadocat, please speak freely. then shouldnt we alter the rank description? I would answer yes, if that is what benefits the duchy most, then my all means a RP oriented KC would be a boon. its the tests that turn most away and i've known quite a few who wouldn't come close. and they are truly excellant rpers propose it ") Then Valla, I'm sorry, but they can go to the druids. ok i hereby propose a change lol In a RP aspect, the KC is the defender of his city I'm not having anyone that doesn't know our laws in DE. I am not dropping our standards. Post it, Your Grace. HC Forums. I agree with caithris, laws are laws. (that was to Eldahir) ok i will , thank you ANd you're right, Shado (3 min til, that's soon enough to drop it). That's how the Captain of the Defenders in NQ was described. I got to go .... my gf just hit me and told me to go to sleep...god....i got work in 3 hours.... Meeting adjourned. Thanks to all who attended!
