Our Tasks

We are here to engage in creative writing (and the reading of it), mainly set in the realms of fantasy, free of obscene or foul/lewd language or imagery. The purpose of having this community is for us to write for fun and to relate with others who also like to write. The things we produce need an audience that is kind, understanding and provide support and constructive criticism. It is thus about giving and receiving. To participate and enjoy it - those are the things you would need to keep in mind. That is the core of it.

However, there must be some things added here that clarifies things more, so that there are no misunderstandings. *Any* creative writing is welcome - let there be no doubt (including poems, short stories, multi-part stories or even artwork). But perhaps one of the main, and possibly most enjoyable, elements of our particular writing community, the Druidic Order, is that we try and collaborate in a single, cohesive storyline that meet certain guidelines as if it was a game we were playing. In fact, we refer to this story as the Epic, and the writing we do for it as role-playing.

Those that want to participate in the Druids’ writing forum(s) do not have to also participate in the Epic, and thus they do not have to conform to/learn the guidelines for the role-playing Epic. If however, a person chooses to, we ask that he/she please try to familiarise themselves with the how’s and why’s of our "writing" game, and as far as possible stick to the guidelines of the story.

The role-playing is an important part of the Druidic Order (although certainly not the only part) and it actually becomes part of a great ongoing history of the fantasy realm (called Temmarendil) that we "live in" as we write within the Druidic Order. Only the writings forming part of the Epic define the fantasy world’s history. Therefore, if you would like to add to the events of Temmarendil’s history, you would have to also participate, according to the rules, in the Epic. An exception to this rule is when a story is deemed to be of great value by the Druids, and therefore made official history.

Please do not think of the Epic being a rigid unbending thing, however - it moves and twists and turns as the participants take their characters through the world on various activities. And keep in mind that the Epic takes place within an entire fantasy world, where there are many lands, continents, places and people. It offers enormous potential.

If a person would not like to write things that are part of the Epic, they are welcome to do their own story role-playing however they want to, and produce creative writings of whatever type pleases them, without being concerned about the "rules" of the Epic. Feel free to write however your muse guides you... We appreciate any and all contributions made. Take care that your creations remain tasteful and contain no harsh/lewd language or images - that is all we ask.

Apart from the Epic, the Druids engage in various other activities. One of the main tasks of the Druids is to write about certain fictional individuals, apart from themselves, who live in the world of Temmarendil. As these tales are stored in the Great Library of Soliath, the individuals that are portrayed are made immortal.

Further, the Druids are the caretakers of all kinds of wisdom and they are the keepers of peace. For ages have they served as advisors and many even as ranking noblemen of their various nations. The Druids are to use their knowledge for the betterment of all, and to keep or make peace.
